Level 6

Level 6 continues to develop and review what was learned in Levels 0 - 5. Read melodies with symbols in octaves; place and play full chords; play primary chord progressions in seven keys; harmonize treble without notes; bass line with chords; accompaniment patterns; Recognize major and minor interval qualities in: thirds, sixths, and sevenths; invert intervals major to minor and perfect; chord qualities: major, minor, diminished, and augmented; scale triads in predominant keys by: quality, degree, sol-fa, and terms; build seventh chords: major, dominant, minor, half-diminished, diminished; scale of seventh chords; figured bass tonic and dominant seven chords; the number seven used in music; and Italian terms to label Sonatina movements. Technically shape legato thirds contrary and parallel; wrist staccato repeating octaves; hop octaves; smoothly roll full chords; hold open position octaves and melody; arch octaves and chords high; balance wrist rotating and still; tap and toss accompaniment loose and light; tap overlapping hands; accompaniment slow and fast; and long arpeggios. The pieces played in Level 6 consist of traditional songs and arrangements of classic melodies from operas, symphonies, and master piano works; along with classic duets, and original intermediate pedagogical pieces.
